Quantafuel and NTNU partner up and establish an Innovation Hub
Together, Quantafuel and NTNU aim to further develop the chemical recycling of plastics waste and create new technology solutions to reduce CO2 emissions.
Today, Quantafuel is pleased to announce a new partnership with Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s (NTNU) Department of Chemical Engineering and the establishment of a new Innovation Hub named “Chemical Conversion of Waste”.
The Hub was formally opened today by Quantafuel’s Chief Commercial Officer Chris Lach and Head of Department of Chemical Recycling, Jens-Petter Andreassen. The Department of Chemical Engineering and Quantafuel will collaborate on various research and innovation projects with a goal to further develop the chemical recycling of wastes to liquid fuels and chemicals, as well new technology solutions to reduce CO2 emissions.
“It is in Quantafuel’s DNA to drive new thinking and disruptive innovation, so this is an exciting day for Quantafuel. The Department of Chemical Engineering at NTNU has amazing expertise in catalysis, and reactor and process engineering. By establishing this partnership, Quantafuel aims to contribute to develop more solutions that contribute to making this world sustainable for coming generations,” says Quantafuel’s CCO Chris Lach.
“Circular economy is high on the agenda for the department of Chemical engineering at NTNU. We already lead several projects in this field and we are planning to introduce a master and doctorate level course on the subject. We are very happy to formalise our collaboration with Quantafuel. Together we will increase research impact, and the collaboration provides our students with highly relevant case studies,” says Jens-Petter Andreassen, Head of Department of Chemical Engineering.
Quantafuel and NTNU have been collaborating well for several years. Formally entering a strategic and operational partnership with the Innovation Hub provides the basis for jointly creating innovative solutions and new technology for the sustainable use of waste streams.
Quantafuel is a Norwegian technology-based energy company with the purpose of ending wasteful and unsustainable handling of our planet's resources. Drawing on more than ten years of development, Quantafuel converts waste plastics back into low-carbon synthetic oil products replacing virgin oil products. Quantafuel aims to rapidly build up production capacity on a global scale and to have a meaningful impact on one of our time's most pressing environmental challenges.
